Community action on water
Hear the talk by Colin Austin
Almost daily we are bombarded with depressing news about global warming and water shortages.
We live in an age of uncertainty. No one knows for sure what will happen with global warming but the odds are that we will suffer more of what we are experiencing now; longer periods of drought broken by severe rain storms.
Governments may like to tell us that they are in control but the harsh reality is there is very little they can do, the community has to accept that the days of the Government providing abundant water are over and learn to take action at the local level.
But communities and individuals can take action themselves to protect themselves from the risk of chronic water shortages. They can have a perfectly viable life style by taking advantage of simple but effective technologies to manage water at the local level. Colin Austin has spent many years researching these technologies.
These actions are described in the various books, articles and DVD’s Colin has produced however there is nothing like hearing it from the horses mouth. If you would like to hear Colin’s talk you can arrange a community meeting.
We need change but not just in technology, indeed many of the technologies have been in use for hundreds of years. The real revolution is the change to communities taking action to collect and manage their water locally. It is a social revolution in our management of water.
